Anthony Farr is CEO of Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropy Africa, responsible for the execution of the Gray family philanthropy across the continent.
Previously, Anthony was the founding CEO of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation. The Foundation seeks to cultivate a pipeline of responsible entrepreneurs for the common good in South Africa through the Allan Gray Fellowship. Over the last decade, starting as high school students, Allan Gray Fellows have founded businesses which now have an aggregate valuation in excess of R1 billion. Prior to this Anthony co-founded the Starfish Greathearts Foundation in 2001. Starfish now supports over 15,000 children orphaned or affected by HIV. After achieving a BSc (Finance) at UCT, Anthony qualified as a CA (SA) and Chartered Financial Analyst. After articles at Deloitte in Cape Town and Luxembourg, Anthony worked for Standard Bank in London for a number of years in the international corporate finance team. He is married to Susannah and they have three children.
