Membership

Fee Structure

Membership fees are based on an annual grantmaking spend. To establish the fees relevant to your membership please see below –

Accredited membership is open to independent philanthropic foundations and individual philanthropists.

Associate membership ( non-voting membership) is at the discretion of the IPASA council and is open to organisations and individuals on the basis of their association with and support for independent philanthropy in South Africa in the following categories.

Accredited Members

Level 1

R7 500 / year

For individuals making an annual spend between R1 – 5 million

Level 2

R15 000 / year

For foundations with an annual grantmaking spend of less than R10 million

Level 3

R25 000 / year

For foundations with an annual grantmaking spend between R10 – 25 million

Level 4

R45 000 / year

For foundations with an annual grantmaking spend above R25 million

Associate Members

Level 1

R7 500 / year

Individuals or organisations involved in academic research relating to the advancement of philanthropy in South Africa

Level 2

R15 000 / year

Community Foundations with an annual grantmaking spend of less than R10 million

Level 3

R45 000 / year

Banking and other financial institutions that offer philanthropy services
Corporate Foundations
BEE Foundations
Community Foundations with an annual grantmaking spend above R10 million

Note :  organisations engaged in both fundraising and grantmaking are welcome to apply for membership, but membership cannot be used to seek grants or raise funds. IPASA holds to a strict non-solicitation policy. A breach of this policy could result in a suspension of membership.

Menbership of IPASA is at the discretion of the council.
